Tauanu'u impressed with Oregon, Trojans are home & visit plans

May 15, 2018

Big-time offensive tackle Jonah Tauanu'u from Narbonne HS is ranked in the Top-100 and being pursued by many of the top schools in the country. He visited USC multiple times during the Spring and took an unofficial visit to Oregon late last month to Oregon.

The Ducks have been able to get a large number of top prospects to visit Eugene in the past two months. We asked Tauanu'u what they're doing so well with recruiting.

"It feels like family around there," said Tauanuu. "It's crazy, they're good coaches to bond with. They way they greeted me when I first got there was crazy. I came out of the elevator in the football building and the whole coaching staff was there to meet me."

Later this month or during the Summer Tauanu'u hopes to visit USC and two out-of-state schools.

"My mom and I were talking about taking an official visit to Florida at the end of the month and we would also like to take one to Oklahoma at some point," said Tauanuu. "My mom loves the coaching staff at Oklahoma and Florida is something new to try out."

When iot comes time for Tauanu'u to decide on a school at a high school All-American Game or on signing day, USC may be a school that's tough to beat being so close to home.

"It's home, that's probably the biggest thing," said Tauanu'u about USC. "If I go to USC, I don't have to worry about my family being able to see me. But there's way more than that, it's the love the coaches show and it's a great environment down there."

It also won't hurt USC's chances if Centennial DE Drake jackson choses the Trojans.

"He's the recruit I talk to the most and he's almost like a brother," said Tauanu'u.

We'll see Tauanu'u again later this month.
