Drake Jackson talks Washington official visit, where USC stands

One of the biggest disappointments of the Summer was Centennial DE Drake Jackson not getting an invitation to The Opening Finals last week, after clearly having the top performance of all defensive ends at the regional qualifier.

Although Jackson justifiably felt he deserved the invite, he's not upset and dwelling on it. What he's focused on is helping the Huskies win a State title this season and figuring out where he'll end up playing football in 2019.

Part of the process in deciding on a college is developing relationships with coaches and visiting the schools. Three weeks ago Jackson took his first official visit to Washington and on Saturday at the Battle of the Beach 7v7 Tournament at Edison HS, Jackson talked about the experience he had in Seattle.

"That was a great official visit," said Jackson. "At first they weren't on my radar, because I had never been up there and didn't know anything about them. So, when I went up there it really opened up my eyes. They have a program at Washington called 'Built for Life" and they showed us they don't recruit you unless you're one of their OKGs. I really respect what they're doing up there. They're going to build you up to be a man, they have a program to help you after football and they send guys off to the NFL as good as anyone."

There are two other Pac-12 schools Jackson has strong interest in and plans to take official visits to.

"I'll take official visits to USC, Oregon, I've already visited Washington and then I may visit Nebraska, Utah," Jackson said.

USC is the school Jackson has visited most often and talks to as often as any. He updated us on where things stand with the Trojans.

"That's big interest," said Jackson about USC. "That's the main one right there. USC is just one of the schools that's like a family dream. I always talk to them, they're always communicating and I talk all the time with Coach KU (Kenechi Udeze)."

Jackson said he plans to take all five of his official visits, with USC getting his final visit.
