Christon talks USC official visit, what's kept him solid for the Trojans

December 3, 2018

USC is an exrtremely young and talented football team, but it isn’t loaded with guys with track speed.

Velus Jones is fast, really fast, but after him there aren’t many guy who can go 80 yards for a TD.

Last season RB Ronald Jones scored numerous times on length-of-the-field runs from scrimmage, this year the Trojans. This season USC missed that big time.

When Madison (San Diego) RB Kenan Christon committed to USC, that was a huge get for the Trojans. He’s also an impressive young man from a great family, so his commitment was a homerun.

Christon is one of the fastest dudes in the state of California with 10.58 100m and 21.20 200m times. He also plans to run tarck at USC.

We should add, he’s one of many USC commits who hasn’t wavered with his commitment to the Trojans. spoke to Christon after his USC official visit Sunday.

SS: There's a lot going on at USC right now trying to put a staff together, including a new OC...What's USC's message...what have they been telling you?

Kenan Christon: "A lot of coaches will tell you to not pick a school because of a coach Don't fall in love with the coaches, fall in love with the school. My first thing was look at the school and when I got there it was just amazing."

SS: Is there any direction that they're telling you that they're going? About an offensive coordinator?

Kenan Christon: "No, they have not."

SS: You guys are able to visit schools besides USC. What separates USC from the rest?

Kenan Christon: "I don't know. It's just a different vibe(?) It's hard to explain, it's just different."

SS: Was there stuff that USC was able to show you that you had not seen or known about before?

Kenan Christon: "Uh, yeah, they showed me a guy from the business school and I learned how much you can do with a business degree from USC.

SS: Clay Helton is a the closer. There’s an undeniable love and conviction the USC players and many recruits have for him. What is it about him?

Kenan Christon: "He's just genuine. He has a passion for the game of football, just like we do. He's just a loving guy...he really touches your heart."

SS: Did you get a chance to spend any time with the players who hosted you?

"Oh yeah. They're really nice. I had a really good time with them."

I’ll head down to San Diego this winter to check out Christon running track.
